Rome [ENA] During the current exhibition from 6 to 13 October concerning German Culture in Rome #NonFarmiMuro in the Museum MAXXI, the National Museum of 21st Century Arts, there was a photographic exhibition concerning Bauhaus. It’s noteworthy to remember that in Dessau and in Germany, 2019 is Bauhaus’ year. Gropius founded the Bauhaus in 1919, first in Weimar and from 1926 in Dessau. The home of Walter Gropius’ renowned

school for art, design and architecture was Dessau where in 1926 Gropius opened a teaching facility that evolved in an icon of Modernism. In the case of the School in Dessau, the great Architect aimed to reconcile form and substance. His opinion was that buildings should serve the real needs of masters and students, providing a place where they could work, live and learn all at once. From 6 September 2019 to 27 January 2020 at the Berlinische Galerie in Berlin there’s the original bauhaus Centenary Exhibition. The Bauhaus existed for only 14 years in Germany, but for 100 years its ideas have been conveyed and its products relaunched, imitated and further developed.

Marking the centenary of the Bauhaus’s founding, the Bauhaus-Archiv / Museum für Gestaltung’s original bauhaus at the Berlinische Galerie is presenting over 1,000 famous, familiar and forgotten Bauhaus originals. According to Walter Gropius (1883-1969) architecture had to be geometric and light, buildings had to be reduced to the essential. Gropius founded the Bauhaus in 1919, first in Weimar and from 1926 in Dessau. The Exhibition features art and design from the holdings of the Bauhaus- Archiv, exceptional loans from international collections and artistic views that take a new look at the Bauhaus legacy. On the basis of 14 key objects, the exhibition develops 14 case histories: How did the woman sitting on the tubular-steel chair become

the most famous Anonymous figure from the Bauhaus? Does the Haus Am Horn in Weimar have a secret twin? Why have Marianne Brandt’s tea infusers which were created as prototypes for industrial production always remained one-of-a-kind pieces? A new light is shed by original bauhaus on how unique work and series, remake and original are linked in the history of the Bauhaus. This is because Bauhaus artists did not see art and technology as opposed to each other. Instead, they used technical innovations to create extraordinary works of art, and they took serial production into account from the moment they began drafting their designs.
